Describe Your Ideal Job:

I would like to gain professional experience working for an organization that shares my beliefs in a sustainable future. I graduated from the University of California, San Diego majoring in Biology in September 2008 and would like to eventually obtain a Masters degree in Environmental Science. I care passionately about the environment and want to choose a career that makes a difference. I have research as well as administrative experience, and would like to obtain a position that will utilize these skills.

Research Assistant (Volunteer)

 

Uaso Ngiro Baboon Project, Nairobi, Kenya                                                Sept 2008 - Jan 2009

·     extensive background and monitoring data collection on demographic, social and ecological parameters, data analysis, Community conservation work, project record maintenance.

·     Event coordination, schedule organization, expense management, document preparation and data base management.

 

 

 

Lab Assistant

Scripps Institute of Oceanography, La Jolla, CA

·     Preparation of fossilized plankton samples

·     Picking of specific plankton species in order to understand the paleoceanography of the Paleocene and Cretaceous warm climates.

·

Skills:

·     Excellent customer service skills

·     Basic lab course experience, as well as over a year work related experience

·     Experience with lab techniques such as PCR, DNA and RNA extraction, microscopy, RT-PCR and other molecular biology techniques.

·     Strong oral and written communication abilities.
