AUSTIN – Elizabeth D. Seale, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of OneStar Foundation: Texas Center for Social Impact, has been named Woman of the Year in Nonprofit and Social Services by the National Association of Professional and Executive Women (NAPEW).
“It is an honor to receive the Woman of the Year award from the NAPEW in recognition of a lifetime of service to those in need,” said Seale. “I look forward to continuing my passion for service by supporting the social sector as president and CEO of OneStar Foundation.”
Seale is responsible for public policy and community development at OneStar, which she has led since Texas Governor Rick Perry appointed her in February 2009. Before coming to OneStar, Elizabeth was chief operating officer of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) in Washington DC, where she provided oversight and management of all CNCS’ national programs. Seale has a broad professional background in human services with an extensive history in community affairs. She has served on a number of Texas state and local boards and commissions. A graduate of Baylor University with a B.S. in English/Education, Seale earned certification in Nonprofit Leadership and Management in 2001 and completed Senior Executive Service Training on the President's Management Agenda in 2002.
NAPEW selects Woman of the Year recipients from thousands of women in their respective fields based on outstanding accomplishments, leadership and service. Only one woman from each industry receives the title. The award winners nationally represent their respective industries in NAPEW’s Women of Excellence registry.
OneStar Foundation equips our Texas communities to effectively address social challenges through a multifaceted strategy promoting social innovation, entrepreneurship, sound business practices, well-managed volunteer programs and rigorous research and evaluation. OneStar also serves as the state's National Service Commission administering the AmeriCorps grant program, and serves as the Faith-Based and Community Initiative office. OneStar carries out its mission for state government as a supporting nonprofit of the Office of the Governor.
