Description
The Passages Advocate serves on a collaborative, multi-agency team led by The Salvation Army. The Passages Team provides intensive case management, financial assistance and support services to people who are homeless. The Advocate serves families leaving the SafePlace family shelter for safe, permanent housing and helps them maintain their independent housing. Essential functions of the position are to screen and assess clients for participation in Passages program; provide comprehensive case management services for clients including developing service plans with the participant, assist in identifying needed services and resources, assist them with accessing those services when necessary and monitor services on behalf of program participants; assist participants in acquiring skills necessary to maintain independent housing – includes budgeting, identifying and seeking needed resources, accessing training, life skills, etc.; helps clients remain in independent housing for up to 6 months after acquiring permanent housing. Requires ongoing monitoring and home visits.

Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field or relevant life experience, two years’ experience as a case manager or advocate, strong knowledge of services delivery system for women and children required. Experience with domestic violence and/or sexual assault preferred, and the ability to speak Spanish is required.
