Afternoon Plenary - Momentum for Nonprofit Reform: Legal and Political Issues (Richard W. Meyer, Attorney at Law)

All nonprofit managers should become familiar with the political and legal issues in play in current "reform" activities and proposals in Washington and in state legislatures. Many well-intentioned proposals could overburden small, medium-size and start-up nonprofits with complex compliance requirements and new legal and financial liability. The nonprofit sector should speak up on these issues and take stands, as any trade group, union or other sector would do, and oppose any overdose of "reform" that threatens the health and efficency of nonprofit organizations.
