 The relationship between volunteers and staff has always been a delicate one, and is usually the biggest problem in involving volunteers more effectively in an organization.  if your volunteer program is to be successful, you must have the support of paid staff.

Participants will:

  • Identify barriers to successful staff and volunteer partnerships
  • Create volunteer opportunitiess that will save time while providing better customer service
  • Review eight steps that will help staff more effectively utilize volunteers

**Recommended for management and supervisory level staff

Speaker Wendy Biro-Pollard

 Wendy Biro-Pollard is an expert volunteer developer and Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA) with more than twenty-five years of high profile experience. She is a seasoned speaker in demand at regional, national and international conferences. Wendy serves on the national training team for VISTA Americorp and Temple University's Center for Intergenerational Learning--boomer volunteer initiative. Wendy directed the Volunteer Center of Austin, Texas, supported volunteer activities throughout a 30-county region for the Texas Department of Human Services and managed volunteers for the Austin-Travis County Health Department. During the 90's, she directed volunteers at St. David's Medical Center of Austin. She recently raised funds, directed volunteers, and provided marketing and public relations support for Austin State Hospital--Texas oldest psychiatric hospital. Wendy was selected as Outstanding Volunteer Coordinator by Directors of Volunteers in Austin, and served as a board member for the American Society of Directors of Volunteer Services--an affiliate of the American Hospital Association.

This session is a part of our Volunteer Management Showcase Series.  You may take this class individually or with the two other sessions in  showcase series.  We have provided a discount option for all those taking the Volunteer Management Showcase Series.  Please send us a quick note (cbryant1@austincc.edu) saying you would like to sign up for the complete series and we will contact you personally to get you registered in all three sessions (other sessions in the series: Volunteer Trends and their Impact on Your Nonprofit 2/24/09; Is Your Volunteer Program hitting the Target 3/12/09)
 
The fee for an individual session is $70.  The fee to the entire Showcase Series is $189 ($63 per session), saving you 10%.
