Strong board committees are the backbone of an organization, and yet, the reality is that in many nonprofits, committees are its weakest link. When committee members understand their role, have a clearly defined direction, an enabling staff, and organized and experienced leadership, the sky’s the limit.

Wendy Biro-Pollard is an expert volunteer developer and Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA) with more than twenty-five years of high profile experience. She is a seasoned speaker in demand at regional, national and international conferences. Wendy serves on the national training team for VISTA Americorp and Temple University's Center for Intergenerational Learning--boomer volunteer initiative. Wendy directed the Volunteer Center of Austin, Texas, supported volunteer activities throughout a 30-county region for the Texas Department of Human Services and managed volunteers for the Austin-Travis County Health Department. During the 90's, she directed volunteers at St. David's Medical Center of Austin. She recently raised funds, directed volunteers, and provided marketing and public relations support for Austin State Hospital--Texas oldest psychiatric hospital. Wendy was selected as Outstanding Volunteer Coordinator by Directors of Volunteers in Austin, and served as a board member for the American Society of Directors of Volunteer Services--an affiliate of the American Hospital Association.
